The History of Liseter:
A legendary farm, restored.

The story of Liseter began when William Liseter Austin, a Baldwin Locomotive Works executive, gave the estate to his daughter as a wedding gift in 1919. The newlyweds, Jean Liseter Austin and her husband, William du Pont, Jr. called their new home “Liseter Farm.” During the 20’s and 30’s, they built Liseter into a successful horse farm where they bred Welsh ponies and racehorses. They raised many champion horses, including Rosemont, one of the few horses to ever defeat Seabiscuit, a thoroughbred racing legend. The farm featured a large barn with an outdoor riding ring and beautiful open pastures.

Today, Toll Brothers has restored the best of the historic Liseter estate into our very own Liseter, a master-planned community where the elegance of a bygone era meets modern luxury living. Your visit to Liseter begins when you pass through a charming stone and iron gate. From there, a tree-lined drive leads you to homes featuring classic Main Line architecture, all within a secluded, scenic estate. We’ve even refurbished the historically preserved barn into the Liseter clubhouse.
